Last Friday marked a first for us. Kelham’s doors swung open to the city, and the studio transformed into a playground of creativity, curiosity, and connection.

Transforming the studio for Kelham Open Day
We didn't want to just show off our space, we wanted to bring Sheffield’s creatives together and host something for the community.
Whether you’re a freelancer, a student, part of a small team, or just starting out, this industry can feel isolating. The Open Day was about breaking that down, making connections and making room for sharing big and small ideas over slices of pizza and hands-on demos.
And because we're no strangers to absolute chaos, we introduced attendees Sh*tty Rigs. A competition that really sparked fear into a lot of creatives. All competing for a free day in our studio. The brief? Vague. Make the sh*ttest rig with the most compelling back story.
Alongside the competition, we had an incredible line-up of people and partners bringing even more to the day:
Yarni on vinyl, setting the vibe
A full FPV drone simulator with Steel City Drone Pilot,
AI Green screen demos and car rig setups
Gear stations with reps from Sony & CVP
Pizza from B'reyt Dough, coffee by Maude Coffee, ice-cold bevs from Freddies Hard Iced Tea
What’s next for Kelham Studio?
We’re already scheming the next event. Definitely more creative community building, more making stuff happen. If you want to get an early heads-up, sign up to our email list.
